TIMES TABLES
Great piece in Sunday Times today in the Home|Interiors section by Dara Flynn. Down to Earth features some great Ercol which "is enjoying a revival" and is being "relentlessly snatched up at British Vintage fairs" and "hard to come by in Ireland". Kirkmodern has long been a fan of Ercol's smooth clean contemporary lines and one of the most iconic pieces has to be the Pebble nest of tables in solid elm. Cool and elegant mid century design at its best.

PAIR UP
It's always hard to find a good vintage storage piece - and even harder to find a pair! These vintage bedside lockers are fantastic quality, beautifully finished in teak and in fantastic condition. Made by Stag in the 70s they will add a touch of retro class to any bedroom. POA info@kirkmodern.com.

SOFT OPTION
One of the best fabric designs of the early 1950s surely has to be this 'hourglass' design by W.Hertzberger for Turnbull & Stockdale. Designed in 1954, it was so directional at the time it was featured in the 1957 Studio Year Book. We have sourced some cushions in this fabric, and the combination of vibrant colours and atomic graphics can make the dullest chair look cutting edge! A great way to bring some directional MidMod style to your home without splashing out on new furniture.

UP UP AND AWAY
Our new range of UpCycled Retro was well received at the Dublin Brocante Retro market today. This 1960s teak sideboard looked stunning, caused quite a stir and was the first to leave the building. We'll be looking for more opportunities to bring new life to vintage retro pieces - so keep watching the blog!

PALATABLE RETRO
For the average home owner in the 1950s it was easier and less expensive to create a contemporary look by buying a palette-shaped coffee table than by investing in a three-piece suite. The palette was a favourite 1950s motif in jewellery, ceramics, textiles and homewares and this little three-legged coffee table is a classic. Team it up with a Stig Lindberg Bersa cup and saucer and you have instant mid-century modern royalty! It will be making its debut at the Dublin Brocante Retro market this Sunday in Newmarket Square. BACHELOR PAD DELUXE
This has to be the ultimate MANtique! A vintage briefcase that will give you that 'Man in a Suitcase' special agent look. Now look closer.... it's a Sanyo complete 3in1 music system, stereo, tape deck and radio all ready to go with either battery or mains, the lid splits into two removable speakers. Take it to the office, loosen your tie, put on your 'Shaft' 45rpm and the party starts right here! Groovy. POA info@kirkmodern.com.

ORGANIC CERAMIC
One of the frequently recurring themes in 1950s Scandinavian ceramics and glass is the use of organic shapes and patterns. This selection of small leaf dishes by Stig Lindberg is typical of his faience work as creative director of Gustavsberg.

PPPPPICK UP A PENGUIN
Preferably a classic 1930s tripartite design by Edward Young. Orange for fiction, green for crime, blue for biography, cerise for travel & adventure, red for plays and featuring, typographically, a relative newcomer with Gill Sans as the main type face for cover and spine. A classic.
