HOT STUFF
There was a great interest in foreign travel in the 1950s, and a fascination with Africa in particular. Exotic images of tribal dances and animal skin patterns popped up on glassware, fabrics and ceramics, such as this dish for Wade and the Zambesi pattern coffee pot by Jessie Tait. It is nice therefore to come across an original piece from the period like this Original Oil on Board painting from Mali. Fantastic graphic imagery - almost silhouette figures with a splash of vibrant yellow. Complete in the original frame, 70x50 cms, this is a unique statement piece for any Modernist Interior.
