HOT SEAT

This extremely cute and comfortable Ercol easy chair has just arrived in stock. A fabulous chair made from solid elm, beautiful curved arms and lovely 'sprung' look to the atomic legs.
This particular chair has an extra vavavoom!!! it has been lovingly restored and covered in a stunning handwoven 2 tone red and black 'Mourne' tweed. The fabric was supplied to Liberty in the 50s, exhibited at the Milan Biennale in 1951, and chosen by Robin Day to use on his designs for the Festival of Britain, Royal Festival Hall in 1951. This chair has the mid century look and is a unique combination of style and comfort. A real collectors piece. POA info@kirkmodern.com

SPACE STATION

Here at kirkmodern, we like to source pieces that are a little more unique than the run of the mill retro items generally available in Ireland. One such piece that has just arrived is this amazing "limba" metamorphic unit by G Plan. Designed in 1960 by L. Dandy, this range was only made for a short
time as the African Limba wood was expensive and the ultra modern minimalist design was very ahead of its time. This beautiful honey coloured unit is a stylish, sleek modernist chest of drawers that transforms into an amazing dressing table or desk. A rare and beautiful mid-century design classic.

MID CENTURY MODULAR

One of the most useful pieces of contemporary modern design is the Ladderax Shelving system by Staples from 1960s. The modular system is completely flexible, with a beautifully simple design - 2 side 'ladders' with cross bars that can hold a mix of shelves and cabinets. These units are increasingly hard to find and achieve big money at auction in UK. We have 2 of these units in stock at the moment
the unit in the photograph is 2 full size widths - one tall one short and a half width. The complete unit is 246cms wide x 164cms tall (and a lower section which is 87cms tall)
Each wide section is 93cms
The narrow section is 63cms.
There is a mix of deep and narrow shelves and a cabinet.

GETTING SHIRTY

We are regularly asked to source original vintage storage boxes, they have become popular as accent pieces in retro interiors, and useful for storage in kitchens and bathrooms. Good quality pieces with and Irish connection are always hard to find, so we were delighted to come across this beautiful 1930s wooden packing box stamped with Taaffe & Coldwell, shirt tailors based in Grafton Street, Dublin.
