Just arrived - Eames Chair EA 108 by Vitra - Aluminium chair, grey hopsack fabric, swivel base. The chair is in a great used condition, the fabric has no worn areas or rips. The aluminium has aquired the softer look, not the highly polished aluminium of later models. Overall very good condition. The chairs in the Aluminium Group are the most famous creations by Charles and Ray Eames.
Designed in 1958 they rate amongst the great achievements in the design history of the 20th century. An important characteristic of the Aluminium Chair is the intelligent combination of materials. It has a clear, transparent form and its construction is clearly visible. Aluminium sections lend the chair both stability and lightness. The material is fixed into the side sections, yet fitted loosely so that it follows the line of the body and is comfortable without requiring extensive upholstery. This material is not a cover but an integral part of the design. contact for more details or to reserve this item

Designed by the automotive engineer George Carwardine, the ANGLEPOISE lamp is based on the ability of a new type of spring invented by Carwardine in 1932 to remain in position after being moved in every conceivable direction. Efficient and energy-saving, the Anglepoise has remained in production ever since. This early version, which is fully stamped on the 'tuning fork', has been completely refurbished - stripped back to the metal and polished - which enhances the iconic Industrial look. Available this Sunday at the Dublin Brocante.

Suggest to any young person that they wait one hour for their photographs and they will probably give you a strange look and then point out that they just check the images on their phone. That is what makes this American "One Hour Photo" light up sign from the 1980s so collectible. The best retro vintage items can pinpoint a moment in time and conjure up an era that has passed. This stand alone sign, 94cms long x 39cms high, is a great conversation point in any retro interior and gives off a warm luminous glow. Available at the Dublin Brocante Newmarket Sq. this Sunday 18th or contact for more details.

The contemporary style of the 1950s was given a huge boost by the Festival of Britain in 1951, which provided the visual platform for the most talented designers of the age to shine. This was most evident in the textile design of the period which proved the quickest and easiest way to modernize your home. Some of the best designs were made by David Whitehead Ltd, their work features extensively in the V&A collection, including this fabulous design from 1954. Always on the lookout for original samples, we are delighted to have sourced two lengths of 'Flowerpots' designed by Tom Mellors for David Whitehead.
A stunning roller printed spun rayon it has all the key elements of contemporary design, stylized skeletal plant forms with blocks of colour combine to make this an iconic design.
